We’re headed to our next destination soon. As often, we’re torn between loving what we have and being excited about what’s to come. From this vantage-point, a month in Cabo Verde feels like not long enough! But as a farewell, here is our top seven of Mindelo, the things we’ve enjoyed most about our time here.

- The beach: looking at it, walking on it, sitting on it, having dinner on it. Even, sometimes, running on it.
- Seafood, of an incredible variety and freshness. We’ve eaten fish and seafood at least once a day, sometimes twice. All of the food of Cabo Verde has been pretty good, but the fruits of the sea are the star!
- Listening to live music in restaurants but also on the streets, spontaneously; we’ve discovered morna, but also zouk, samba, and a whole host of others!
- The weather – it’s been beautiful, day in and day out, with just the right temperatures for us. Once it rained, overnight, which we thought was very thoughtful. (The island, and the country as a whole, need rain, but it was kind of them not to do it when we were on the beach.)
- Carnaval: the biggest party we’ve ever attended where we didn’t know a soul and still had the time of our lives!
- Hanging out in our spacious and colourful Mindelo apartment, enjoying the views of Monte Verde and the town.
- Talking to people we meet on the street and in coffee shops and restaurants.

There you have it, our top seven of Mindelo! We hope you enjoyed reading about our time here even a tiny bit as much as we enjoyed being here.
